the ammobox project was born out of an idea by
@philcampbell of me.dm to increase the
quality of streamed content that was hosted by various live streaming video services by having those companies sponsor boxes of audio/video equipment for the community.

The thinking behind the box was relatively simple.

we want to work with video streaming hosts (blog.tv, ustream, bambuser and others) to provide a sponsorship community based programmee (normally a £1000 for each box of hardware) so that a box of audio visual equipment (flips, dv, hd units and good quality microphones) could be put together and deployed numerous times across the uk.   The box(s) will travel from event to event depending on the requirements that each event needs.  simple pdfs will be included in each box detailing how to use the contents and online videos will show each event how to set the devices up ahead of time.   Each event/location has to fill out a series of forms to request the box, cover liablility insurance and cover the costs of the courier to the venue.

The first project to use the ammobox project is amplified. We hope to expand on our ammobox range of boxes with dedicated equipment for audio livepodcasting right up to semi-pro hd equipment.  We are hoping to find companies who are willing to help with the initial small outlay to sponsor each box of ammobox style equipment.   In the web tv and streaming world we have yet to find a product that can cater for the low to medium needs of those wishing to broadcast the content from a venue – we think the ammobox project can do that.

We aim to bring you a fusion hybrid of a website catering to the needs of events that would normally never stream their content to the internet and also maintain a blog with guest bloggers in the field using this equipment on a daily basis.    We have already made some inroads to hardware sponsors and are actively now pushing to produce overview videos regarding the contents of each box.

In conjuction with this project we will also be aggregating and distributing the captured contents of the boxes to various video streaming hosts around the web using our sister web project rezpondr.  those sponsoring the boxes can enjoy the density of seo and wealth of feedback that producing small content productions distributed around the web can bring.
